{Finding Kindness} Hurricane Sandy

November 1, 2012

Hurricane Sandy SUCKS!!! I’ve been w/o power since Monday. Hello lanterns and flashlights. But honestly, I can’t even complain! I’m very thankful for friends texts, tweets and emails. Thankful for a gas stove. Thankful for LIFE! And now that I’m back at work, I’m thankful for Wi-Fi. LOL

I’ve heard so many horrific stories over the last few days…including criminals dressing up as ConEdison employees and robbing people at gunpoint when they open the door. I could’ve used this post to rant about these idiots, but I chose to find some great acts of kindness and focus on the angels that are doing the right thing. Love, ALWAYS wins!

Family in Hoboken, NJ has power. You can charge your phone! I saw this pic on FB and it brought a few tears to my eyes. Something so simple but extremely thoughtful! LOVE

Shell, an AirBnB owner is offering a FREE GUEST ROOM in Brooklyn, NY for those that have been misplaced due to Hurricane Sandy. Shell is an ANGEL and this is absolutely DIVINE!

New York Sports Clubs has opened their doors (and hearts) to anyone who needs to shower (please bring your own towel), charge their cell phone, or de-stress by simply working out. The clubs will be open to the public (local residents 18 and older with photo ID) through November 14. Visit www.mysportsclubs.com to find a location near you!

Comcast is allowing anyone regardless of whether they are a customer or not to access its Xfinity Wi-Fi hot spots in Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Washington D.C., and West Virginia.   You can check the company’s coverage map to see where a Comcast Xfinity Wi-Fi hot spot is available near you. Users will be able to renew their complimentary sessions every two hours through November 7, the company said.

I am so moved by the way people AND corporations have come together to assist those in need during Hurricane Sandy.  These acts of kindness should be applauded! If you know of any other efforts I may have missed, please let me know so I can update the post. And if you are looking for ways to give back, please read How to Volunteer, Donate to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

For those that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy, I send Light, LOVE, Peace, Healing and a Bazillion Blessings!!!

I love New York (and Jersey!) Great to see us all come together during this tragic time. I thankfully was not affected in Midtown but my brother and his girlfriend who are in the village have been without power for days so they’ve taken shelter at my place. Seeing lots of tweets and pics of local businesses helping out which warms my heart :)

Stay safe darling!
